• Review of "Farmers Arms Hotel" at Junortoun

  The old Farmers Arms hotel was burnt to the ground quite a few years ago and this new red brick building emerged in its place. I can't say I like the new building but that is only my personal opinion. To me it doesn't have an identity. It's like a modern club without the poker machines. The old building burning down was the best thing that could have happened to it. It was well past its use-by-date. Having said that, the meals were always quite good. We have eaten several meals at the new Farmers Arms and all have been excellent - although charged at restaurant prices and not Pub prices. As one would expect from a new build, it is very clean. The board floors and the hugeness of the dining room make it very hollow sounding and difficult to hold a conversation. It is almost impossible to hear if the dining room is more than half full. There is a distinct lack of intimacy. The prices and the hollow noise and lack of intimacy is what I think mainly causes me to believe that the Farmers Arms is struggling to find its identity. The above may seem harsh and I don't mean it to be that way. It is just how I feel about the place having eaten there several times. The 4 Star rating I have given the business is based on the quality of the meals. They have always been very good.

  Well spread out with lots for the younger kids to do including an indoor play centre! Nice pool but too cold for the off season. Great camp kitchen. Need to sort out electrical issues! Kept tripping the circuit breaker on a good portion of the park so the power was on and off quite a bit one evening. Our camp site was a bit rocky and lacked grass but that was not typical of most sites.
